Quality and price of hemp

Due to quality differences often large differences in price exist amongst the hemp for sale. Importantly most of the useful substances, like cannabinoids and terpenes, are formed in the sticky resin glands, also called trichomes. These trichomes are mainly found in the flower buds and the further away the leaves are located from the flowers, the less trichomes will usually be on them. This means the best results in obtaining CBD oil are gained with flower buds.

Besides that it is also important if the hemp is harvested by hand or mechanically. With mechanical harvesting many trichomes will be lost. You can very well see this for yourself by shaking a hemp flower. The powder which falls off, also known as kief or skuff, is made up of trichomes. To preserve this hemp powder as much as possible, it is important to harvest the plants with care. The drying process also has a great impact on the active ingredients, of which terpenes especially can be lost very easily.

The importance of organic hemp plants

Futhermore it is of major importance for the hemp to be completely organic. Often hemp plants are cultivated organically, but grown on polluted soil. Particularly hemp from lots which use crop rotation (a different crop each year), can take up many toxic substances. With the exception of the hemp crop, all crops in the Netherlands (and many other countries) happen to be sprayed, which means harmful substances end up in the soil.

Hemp is a plant which is very good at taking up these harmful substances through the root system, storing them and holding them in the plant. For this hemp, which is often grown on huge lots, it will be possible to be offered more cheaply than hemp which is harvested by hand and grown on

unpolluted soil on small-scale lots. Because hemp is good at taking up heavy metals and other toxic chemicals, the plant is regularly used for decontamination of vacant lots and heavily polluted grounds.

Hemp is not suitable for recreational use

All hemp for sale in this category comes from certified hemp strains which can be grown completely legally. Strict and very accurate checks are performed in which the THC-percentage is carefully measured. Only varieties containing less than 0.2% of THC, are listed on the official List of Strains.

Due to the lack of this psychoactive cannabinoid no stoned or high sensation whatsoever will occur after usage, which makes the hemp leaves and flower buds unsuitable for smoking. Of course the hemp can however be used as a replacement for the very harmful tobacco, but no psychoactive effect will take place. On the other hand the hemp does contain high levels of cannabidiol, CBD in short, which makes it ultimately suitable for use by humans and animals.

Hemp flowers also contain beneficial terpenes

The plant materal contains useful terpenes as well, like for instance caryophyllene, which influences the endocannabinoid system. Lab tests show that hemp, besides caryophyllene, often contains much of the terpene pinene, which promotes breathing, and the terpene myrcene, which possesses many beneficial characteristics. Furthermore it regularly contains the terpenes limonene, linolool, humulene and terpinolene.

In our product range you can choose from various hemp varieties. Both the dried leaves as the dried flower buds come from hemp plants which are grown in an environmentally friendly way on hemp plantations which are located in various European countries.

Buying various hemp strains

The certified and monoecious hemp strain Futura 75 comes from small-scale hemp lots which can be found in various locations in Spain. You can also choose the Finnish Finola and the Italian landrace Carmagnola, both dioecious varieties which under ideal conditions produce quite high levels of CBD.

Of these two hemp strains, which are of very high quality, we exclusively offer the female hemp flowers. Carmagnola plants are cultivated on plantations which are located in Italy where the entire harvest is done by hand. Besides Futura 75, Finola and Carmagnola you can also buy the hemp leaves and the flowers of the monoecious strains Felina 32 and Ferimon.

In addition we offer finely cut leaves from a combination of Finola and USO 31 hemp from Germany. Finely cut leaves are very suitable for enriching a meal or for the preparation of tea. For the making of highly concentrated CBD oil we recommend hemp buds.
